St Peters Church

Here is Saint Peter's Church, It is known for its striped roof which you can see in a few of the pictures.

There is the horse drawn carriages that Vienna is famous for, though I must admit the horses did stink, but then what did I expect??

One thing about Europe is when the notable places are getting refurbished on the outside they tend to like to put pictures on the scaffolding of what the building should look like, kind of ruins the pictures I must admit.

See rubbish bins do come in handy!! Just lucky no one ran off with the camera as well, considering the distance we are from the camera!!

The Beautiful Buildings

I must say that I absolutely LOVED Vienna, the buildings are so beautiful, the added decorations bring the buildings from just pretty to works of art and give them wow factor, well I think so anyway.

This is still our first night in Vienna, we decided to go to the Christmas markets, it was really pretty with all the lights out, just a shame that my camera doesn't take good pictures at night.

Mmmmmmm food, and yummy food it was.

I don't really know what this statue was for, but it is pretty anyway.

Time for something different - Vienna

This is us flying over the Swiss Alps pretty huh?

And we arrive in Vienna, this is the stop we got off for our hotel, I must say getting around on the underground train services is really easy!! As you can see I am wrapped up as it is winter...I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...

And here is our hotel, oooohhhhh lights!!! And that is me with the blue bag.

Lookie, lookie we got a welcome gift when we arrived, COOKIES!!!

The last of Egypt - Thank God

Well this is the Lighthouse at Alexandria, it is not there any more due to earthquakes and the natural sinking of the ground making it unstable. The Lighthouse was one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World

The famous Library of Alexandria

Oldest Church / Mosque in Egypt

This is me and Ange at the oldest church in Egypt, it is called the Hanging Church as it is built on the remains of two towers from the old fortress (Fortress of Babylon) there is gaps in the floor covered in glass that you can look through to the ground well below.

This is me on the right in our Harry Potter uniforms for our visit to the oldest Mosque in Egypt the Mohamed Ali Mosque.

The Valley of the Kings

Above is a picture of a model of the Valley, the little squares are tombs scattered throughout the area.

Well didn't get many pictures of the valley of the Kings as we were not allowed to take pictures in the tombs but I bought some pictures from the hawkers that are really good of the inside of the tombs.

As you see by all the people walking above is the deepest tomb in the valley, sorry cant remember which Pharaoh is buried there but I do know it was a trek and a half, we pretty much went to the top between the two cliffs

The Donkey Ride

That's of me!!

And that is the back of my Donkeys head!!

There is me and my donkey

Doesn't he look very happy does he.

There is some of our group...YALLAH YALLAH

Back to Egypt - The Colossi of Memnon

These are very cool they are massive statues that have been damaged by an earthquake which caused them to every morning when the rays of the rising sun touch the statue, it makes musical sounds, like a moaning noise or the sharp twang of a harp string . This was supposed to be the voice of Memnon responding to the greeting of his mother Eos and this is why the statues are named after Memnon

This is me and Emma one of the other Kiwi girls on the tour with us.
